SwissPRTR

Welcome to the public access point of the SwissPRTR

Via the SwissPRTR Enquiry Platform, data provided by facilities subject to the obligation to report, and validated by the administrative authorities, regarding non-confidential pollutant releases and transfers of waste and pollutants to wastewater, can be searched for and displayed.

Selecting the Facility

From the Select Facility page, you may change to the selection of pollutants or waste treatment directly, or display all the facilities subject to the obligation to report via the Display Facilities button.

In addition, you may restrict the facility search by a number of criteria. On this page, you can make a preselection of data. For the purposes of ease of use, the selection criteria are divided into four areas: Time span, Facility data, Localisation, and Field of activity.

In the “Time span” field, the selection can be restricted to one or more years. In the “Facility data” field, you may restrict the selection to one or more facilities, or to an owner. The “Localisation” field permits you to refine the search by geographical criteria. Finally, the search may be delimited to one or more fields of activity. Different selection criteria from the four filter areas may be combined.

For some criteria, e.g. canton, more than one may be selected by holding down the CTRL key (Windows) or CMD key (Mac) while you click on the list entries.

Please note that the selection criteria are filters, and only those records which meet all the selected criteria will be displayed in the results table.

On this page are displayed all media (Air, Water, Soil, Wastewater), in which the pollutants are released or transferred, and all pollutants which may be researched on the SwissPRTR.

At the top you may stipulate for which medium the releases and transfers should be displayed.

In the lower part of the page there is a table which lists all the available pollutants. You may select or exclude individual pollutants by clicking on the box next to the pollutant name. Only those pollutants can be selected which are subject to obligation to report in the selected media. The Select all and Clear all options allow you to select or exclude all pollutants.

Should you required more detailed information concerning the pollutant, click on the    symbol after the pollutant name. This opens a new page with information about the pollutant in question.

When you have made your selection, use the Display button to display the result by pollutant. The Display by main activity button, on the other hand, returns the result of your selection listed by the facilities' main activities.

The Reset filters button will clear all set filter criteria and return to the Facility Selection page.

Waste Treatment Selection

Here you may further restrict your selection regarding waste treatment. The filter criteria name and address of the waste recycler or disposer are available only for hazardous wastes which are transferred abroad.

The Reset filters button will clear the set filter criteria and return to the Facility Selection page.

Facility Result Table

Via the Display facilities button you arrive at the Facility Result Table page. Here all facilities subject to obligation to report, or those which match the search criteria, will be displayed.

In the upper part of the window you may restrict the returned facilities by further filters. Here a multiple selection is possible by means of the CTRL or CMD keys.

The system will only return the first hundred records found. The Display all records button will show all the available records. Note: the enquiry may take a while, depending on the number of records in the register.

Use the Back button from any page to return to the preceding one. The filters selected will remain set.

The CSV Export button will save the displayed result table in an Excel readable format.

Using the Select pollutants and Select waste treatment buttons you can directly access the selection list for the pollutants and waste treatment respectively.

All results tables may be sorted in either ascending or descending order by a click on a column title.

You can display the detail information for each facility by clicking on the name of the facility in the results table. This opens a new window containing all the detailed information relevant to the selected facility.

Pollutants Results Table

This table lists all the non-confidential releases of pollutants and transfers of pollutants into wastewater, which correspond to the criteria you chose previously. In the upper part of the page, you have the option of further restricting the data in the tables by the Year, Canton and Main Activity filters. You may sort the entries by the column name.

You may display the detailed information for each facility by clicking on the facility name. To obtain more information about the pollutant, click the pollutant name.

In order to optimise access time, only the first 100 records are displayed by default. To reveal the rest of the records click Display all records. This may take a while depending on the enquiry and available records.

The displayed results table may be saved as an Excel-readable file via the CSV Export button. Here you have two options: “One line per facility” exports a single line for each facility, containing all the released and transferred pollutants related to that facility. The “Results Table” option, on the other hand, exports the table as displayed on the page.

Reset filters clears all the filter criteria and returns you directly to the facility selection page.

Non-confidential releases and transfers of pollutants to wastewater reported by facilities subject to the obligation to report are displayed on this page by the main activity of the facilities. This page also contains diffuse source releases.

In the upper part of the page you may restrict the record search further by means of filters on year, canton and main activity.

In the lower part of the page, a table appears for each pollutant for each environmental sector. In the upper part of each of these tables you will find alongside the name of the pollutant the time span of the release, the environmental sector (medium), in which the pollutant is released, as well as the threshold value per facility for this pollutant. For more detailed information concerning a pollutant, click on the    symbol after the pollutant name. A new page with information about the corresponding pollutant will open. The lower part of each table lists the absolute and relative values (percentages) of the releases by main activity of the facilities and for the diffuse sources.

If a geographical restriction is made, the diffuse sources and the percentage data are not given, since these figures refer to the whole of Switzerland.

Waste Results Table

The table lists the registered, non-confidential transfers of waste from facilities which match your search criteria. In the upper part of the page, you may restrict the search further by means of year, canton and main activity filters. In addition, you may sort the table, by either ascending or descending order, by clicking on the column title.

You may display the detailed information for each facility by clicking on the facility name.

In order to optimise access time, only the first 100 records are displayed by default. To display the rest of the records click Display all records. This may take a while depending on the enquiry and available records.

The records displayed in the results table may be saved as an Excel-readable file via the CSV Export button.

Reset filters clears all the filter criteria and returns you directly to the facility selection page.

Facility Details

On the Facility Details page you will find all the information related to the selected facility. In the upper part of the page are displayed the base data and the activity sector of the facility, and in the lower part are listed the non-confidential releases and transfers of that same facility.

Via the Year selection list, you may select the year for which the releases of pollutants and transfers in wastewater, as well as the transfers of waste for the facility, should be displayed.

If you require more detailed information concerning a pollutant, click on the    symbol after the pollutant name. This will open a new page containing the desired information.

If you move the mouse cursor over the    symbol, an Infobox will open concerning the system used to acquire the data, including the measurement and calculation methods used, for each pollutant.
